Welcome to Diak East!
You will find us in
central Finland. Pieksämäki is a well planned rural town with 20,000
people in the area. The town is in southern Savo about 350 km north-east
of Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
In Pieksämäki you can easily
find accommodation, good service and exercise opportunities. You don’t
have to go far to see and experience the wonders of nature. Situated in a
railway junction, there are also good connections from Pieksämäki to all
directions of the country.
There are about 500 students in
Pieksämäki Unit, and about 1000 students in the whole campus every year.
In Pieksämäki Unit, the studies focus on high quality education, nursing
and social welfare.
We are specialized in rural social work and
diaconal work as well as developing services for people with special
needs. As a regional development centre we are implementing those ideas by
active projects, research and development, and well rounded education.
Diak
bases its core set values on Christianity. Therefore, Diak emphasizes
justice, solidarity and the human dignity of each person and empowers
people to influence societal change and fight against social exclusion.

In addition to Bachelor’s
Degree Programmes, there are Open Polytechnic studies, Specialization
Studies and Master’s Degree studies. We also offer an inspiring
international course of empowering social work that has been developed in
close cooperation with many European universities, polytechnics and
colleges.
